The Rajasthan 'design culture' boasts of a rich heritage of textile and craftsmanship Kapraha India is a homegrown clothing label - styled, designed and created by Anushree Saraf Pabuwal of Jaipur. This label was born from the idea of paying homage to this beautiful craft of hand block printing and inculcating the traditional methods into creating contemporary capsule collections. KAPRAHA is a Persian/Urdu version of the word ‘Kapra’ which means ‘Fabric’. Apart from working with artisans from Amer, Sanganer and Bagru - the textile villages of Rajasthan, we also aim to contribute to the livelihood of many women by nurturing their skills of 'silai' (stitching) and 'bunai' (weaving). With Ms. Anushree's personal visits to the villages, across Rajasthan as well as to Kutch, Gujrat, it led to the idea that craftsmen live at their own homes and work from their comfort zone rather than being uprooted and moved to city life. On the other hand, providing women the opportunity to break from their home-bound lives and experience a factory life and work-culture has been an enriching experience for them. They have created a beautiful network of friendship with other women and enjoy working amidst peals of laughter. With such a wonderful team of artisans, designers , interns and people with many other skills, we are a happy and growing family dressing women across the world while keeping our roots intact.
