Together For Her

Amilani Perera a popular fashion designer and Thiyasha De Fonseka, director of Tiesh have joined hands together with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Sri Lanka to uplift, support and empowers women who have faced violence in Sri Lanka.

Amilani and Thiyasha are working on a campaign to help shelters that take in sexually assaulted and abused women, young girls and children. These shelters are run privately and are struggling due to a lack of donations. They are currently having to turn away victims as they are unable to provide them with basic needs of food.

They are kick-starting a project, which aims to print t-shirts with their slogan and sell them. 100% of the proceeds from the project will be donated to the shelters. They also hope to continue supporting this needy cause in the future with the help of their family and friends and to be able to spread the word around.

The story behind the slogan is to stop the stereotyping or ask what the victim was wearing when a rape/abuse/ assault occurs. No matter what a girl wears no one has the right to cause her any harm. They emphasise and believe that it is something that must be taught to children.

Amilani and Thiyasha would like to thank everyone in advance for the donations and remind them that it goes a long way to help provide basic necessities.
