Here is a celebration of Kalaripayattu. As an ancient martial artform it has been integral to the culture of Kerala. Though traditional in form yet it has been modern in edifice. When widespread discrimination prevailed, the training ground of Kalari withheld from segregation of caste and sex. As seen in the figure of ‘Unniarcha’ who was a woman fighter remembered in the ballads of “Vadakanpattu”. Over a physical exercise, it has a spiritual context. As alongside agility and fitness, it aimed at achieving the ultimate integration of body and mind in its movements. These are the aspects which urmi wishes to cherish through this print.
