‘Nelum’ is an homage to the intricate lotus motifs found at an entrances to the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy. Referencing the hand-painted, seamless patterns that adorn the space, the artist reflects on childhood visits to the temple, where these designs left a lasting impression. The artwork celebrates both the elegance of Sri Lankan artistry and the artist’s spiritual connection to the lotus flower.
