With the majority of the world under lockdown, it seems that the concept of date and time have become irrelevant. The on-going pandemic and the consequent restrictions have led to a drastic change of routine for many. From waking up late to skipping out on makeup, this will be the new norm until it’s safe to venture out again. While it is okay to forgo cosmetics and hair products for the time being, the one thing you absolutely shouldn’t forget is your skincare routine.
Regardless of the fact that you may not be commuting in crowds or going out in the sun, following a strict skincare routine is extremely important if you want to avoid any skin damage in the future. Many assume that staying home protects their skin from harm, but that is not true. As factors such as pollutants, temperature, diet, activity and even lack of fresh air can cause breakouts, dryness, rashes and other skin conditions.
If you’re lost about what routine to follow or scared about potential repercussions for not caring for your skin, we have some tips that may help you out.
Use the right face wash
Did you know that you need to switch your face wash depending on the season? Many of us are guilty of using the same face wash whether we are in the middle of the hottest summer or surrounded by snow. However, dermatologists recommend against this. Since our skin changes throughout the year, changing face wash ensures that you avoid skin problems like acne and dry skin.
Search for an ideal scrub
Exfoliating regularly removes the dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. This allows the pores to open and lets them breathe. The result? Leaving behind a healthy and rejuvenated skin that glows.
Indulge with a face mask
Although visiting a salon at the moment may not be possible or advisable, there is no need to skip out on a relaxing and revitalising skincare treatment at home. Treat yourself to a face mask every once in a while to bring a little more radiance to your skin. Depending on your skin type, choose a face mask that works best for you.
Continue to moisturise
While cleansing and exfoliating are beneficial to your skin, don’t forget the importance of moisturising. Your skincare routine needs to involve your preferred moisturiser, cream or body butter. It is important to hydrate your skin throughout the day as that prevents dryness and roughness in the future.
Don’t forget the rest of your body
Oftentimes, in our rigorous skincare rituals, we manage to neglect other parts of our body. It’s about time we remember that the health of our feet, our body and our lips is equally important. Experience a full-spa treatment at home with products designed to pamper.
