Nithya

Nithya is a Sri Lankan label which aims to re-invent ancient crafts and introduce it to new marks. The brand was launched by Nithya Lamahewa in 2012 and uses the skills of old handloom and batik communities, combining it with cutting-edge design to create unique collections. Nithya pushes the conventional boundaries of the craft creating new concepts like handloom denim saris and recombining established design styles like the tartan check into cool, comfortable clothing for the discerning executive or creative. They aim to push the boundaries while promoting an ancient craft which is not usually associated with high fashion, while helping rural communities to promote their craft.
